Public Broadcasters in Transitional Countries

The public need the media to hold people in power to account. Leaders need the media to connect them to the population and provide a true account of what is happening outside the capital, independent from the coterie of Ministers and advisors, who are often reluctant to bring bad news to their boss.
But many transitional countries have state broadcasters who are not independent and they have commercial media who are more focused on making money than providing quality news services.
